PRE-CYBER MONDAY SPECIAL EDITION: THE PROCESSOR WARS; and THE LAPTOP SUPREMECY

PROCESSOR WARS: ATTACK OF THE CLONES

Those of you who can't tell an AMD Processor from a food processor are in luck: I'm sharing my thoughts (without getting too deep into processor
architecture. At least, not Today. ;) )

YOU BASICALLY HAVE 2 CHOICES: AMD or INTEL.

Which is better? THE ANSWER IS BOTH. It depe
nds on what you're looking for.

As I inderstand it,
AMD offers more budget-friendly options, while getting comparable results compared to Intel (after overclocking, which is a whole 'nother article). INTEL typically wins out in the performance department.

Then again, AMD makes fairly great GPUs (not to be confused with the CPUs which we're focusing on in this article).

Now, both companies have Processors from years as far back as 2002 floating around on the market. And in some cases (that darn term paper) that's enough.

I know for a fact that INTEL has " 2nd Gen"s and "Extreme Edition"s of their i3/i5/i7 cores. For THE BADDEST (mainstream) MAMAJAMMA, you want this: INTEL i7 975 Extreme Edition.

BUT AGAIN, unless you edit video frequently (or soon intend to), much of that power will go un-tapped as you browse Facebook and Skype (perhaps Facebook chat will actually WORK(?)! There's a big plus!)

For me, I'm looking for an Intel i7 (w/ SANDY BRIDGE architecture) this Cyber Monday. We shall see what the market provides.
sn: FOR FUN: Google "AMD OPTERON" (codename BULLDOZER). Then, Google SANDY BRIDGE.

LAPTOPS

I wanna say this ONCE:
GET WHATEVER YOU'RE MOST COMFORTABLE WITH.

At the end if the day, that's what it comes down to.

"But so many choices!" you say.

True; but remember: YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT.
As exciting as (the one I want) a Convertible Laptop (aka hybrid/aka laptop-tablet-combo), a Macbook Pro is always a sure thing.

Or do you just get the tablet?

Or why not spring for the desktop?

Again, it's WHAT YOU'RE COMFORTABLE WITH; but let me say that ULTRABOOKS are replacing desktops in the not-so-distant future.

Personally, I'd look at LENOVO. Their ThinkPad X series is bangin', if not a little less visually stylish than Apple or Dell. Many of their products are HALF OFF this weekend. And that'sWITHOUT THE USED CAR SALEMAN; we're talkin' BRAND SPANKIN' NIZZLE.

The brand is trusted and recommended by Liberty University* so you know it's got clout. (*though likely due to a contract deal)

Anyway, "GR8 PRODUCTS 4 GR8 VALUE"
can be found on Lenovo's website. To see what I saw (and to keep on saw-ing...?) check out this link.

SO THERE YA HAVE IT FOLKS; I wish you the best in your journey.
Whatever you get, be sure to tell me about it @TheRealJTweet.

Happy Hunting!

The battle rages on...
