The Six Year Plan - End of the World

Dear Reader,

There are a multitude of ways that humanity, civilization, or possibly all of life itself will cease to exist. Whether it be by natural disaster, alien invasion, primate uprising, the sun burning out, asteroid collision, biological warfare, zombie invasion, something involving robots, or The Apocalypse, shit is going to get hectic. So you can either prepare now and save some sanity, or "ride the wave" and see what happens. With December 21, 2012 right around the corner, I would suggest preparing now.

I don't know about you, but I don't want Dave Grohl to be my only chance for survival...

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SURVIVE (AT LEAST FOR A WHILE):

Contrary to popular belief, and as many emergency preparation guides suggest, hording bottled water WILL NOT aid you when the world ends. Chances are you'll be dead, and robots really have no use for water. Zombies either. Anyway. When the world starts ending, civilization will be cast into a state of panic. If you haven't already, sit down with a group of close friends, and discuss making a Survival Squad. This needs to be a small group of people, usually consisting of four individuals, that you can indefinitely depend on. They need to be as close as, if not closer than family. When picking your group, try to optimize skill set and physicality. Remember, you MAY need to rebuild all of society with these three people. Figure out a general plan: start with a location and a basic strategy. The key is to remain calm and precise. Order is what makes humans humans after all.

WILL YOU BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN THE WORLD ENDS:

Sure, surviving would be nice, but what's the point if you lose yourself along the way? How can one retain any sense of Individual and Personality with all the surrounding chaos? The answer is to find out NOW. Spend some quality time finding out exactly who you are, what makes you who you are, and what you really want out of life. Perhaps it involves a retreat. Perhaps it involves a fungi-induced experience. Maybe you just need to be honest with yourself. Regardless, become self-aware. Find your beliefs and values, and stick to them. When you're torn between risking it all to save your partner from a battalion of Daleks, or running for your life, it would be advantageous to know what you stand for. Confidence is key.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN/IF IT'S OVER:

Your guess is as good as mine. Good luck with that.

And if all else fails...
Remember: Save the Cheerleader, Save the World.

Until Next Time
