Pokémon X and Y announced for the 3DS

Remember staying up all night for Santa Claus?  Multiply that by a million and turn your cap backwards because early this morning, the president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, made an official statement during a web broadcast to announce the newest generation of Pokémon video games for the Nintendo.  Scheduled to come out this October, Pokémon X and Y will present all new visuals, Pokémon, and storyline.

When Pokémon was first introduced in 1996, there were only 150 (or 151 depending on who you ask) different pocket monsters, but after the recent Black and White editions, there are 649 to keep track of.  And although the games were intended for a younger audience, those who grew up with the series since '96 haven't stop to put down the game.  As a matter of fact, I still have a copy of Pokémon Blue in my bathroom.

It was like Angry Birds for 10 year olds...

Until more information comes out, we do have a few screenshots to give you an idea of what they have in store.  But if the trailer is any insight into what to expect, then Generation 6 looks to deliver.  So grab your Gameboy and relive the glory days of beating the Elite Four and watching the S.S. Anne drift away as we wait for October and the new Pokémon X and Y.
